Selected for Coffee Board

Nanda Belliappa from Madapura and Anil Kumar Bhandari from Sunticoppa, both from Kodagu, have been chosen as members of the Indian Coffee Board, according to information reaching here on Friday.

A notification was made by the Department of Commerce, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, on November 5, 2009.

Both Mr. Belliappa, son of late Minister, A.M. Belliappa, and Mr. Bhandari represent the large coffee growers.

From the small growers category, Tara Aiyamma from Balele and Chandramathi Ganesh from Kanbail have been picked to represent the Coffee Board from Kodagu.

Faiz Musa Kutti from Kudige has been picked as a representative of the coffee curing establishment from Kodagu.

Names of Udupi-Chikmaglur MP D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Rajya Sabha MP B.K. Hariprasad also figure as members of the board. Mr. Hariprasad will hold office till his retirement on June 30, 2010. There are 27 members on the board, including those from Hassan, Chikmaglur districts, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Membership will be valid for three years from the date of notification.
