Annual flower show begins in Raja Seat, Madikeri

Madikeri: Steps will be initiated to improve the aesthetics of Raja Seat gardens to attract more tourists, said Deputy Commissioner K.H. Ashwatha Narayana Gowda, here on Saturday. He was inaugurating a three-day annual flower and horticulture show.

The show would be a break from routine and people should come in good numbers to watch it, Mr. Gowda said. However, rain, just before the inauguration, proved to be a dampener. The figure of goddess Cauvery, made out of flowers, was the high point of the show.

Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri, Deputy Director of the Department of Horticulture Devarajappa, Madikeri City Municipal Commissioner Srikanth Rao, Joint Director of Agriculture K.R. Krishnaiah and Information Officer Vinod Chandra were the guests.

Members of the Raja Seat Development Committee Naveen Kushalappa, M.P. Muthappa and Monty Ganesh were present.

Stalls have been set up at the Gandhi Maidan nearby, selling nursery plants, flowers and seeds. Cultural programmes have been scheduled in the evenings.
