Rs 1.03 cr for Suntikoppa hospital building’

MLA M P Appachu Ranjan said that the government has sanctioned Rs 1.03 crore for the construction of a new building for the Suntikoppa Government Hospital and Rs 14 lakh has been released for the repair of old buildings. 

 
He was speaking after laying foundation for the new building for the Suntikoppa Government PU College to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 21.90 lakh, on Saturday. He said that the government had taken up several development programmes in Suntikoppa based on the demands of the people. “A total of Rs 84 crore has been sanctioned for the development of roads in the district. While Rs 53 crore has been reserved for Virajpet taluk, Rs 13 crore will be for Madikeri and 17.57 crore has been reserved for Somwarpet taluk,” Ranjan said.

A proposal has been sent to the government to commence Commerce stream in the Suntikoppa Government PU College from the next academic year.

Zilla Panchayat Member B B Bharathish said that the MLA should take initiatives to provide drinking water supply to Suntikoppa town from Haradur river. Efforts should also be made to upgrade the government hospital, he added.

Principal Dr M V Rama, Taluk Panchayat Member P M Lathif, Gram Panchayat President B I Bhavani, former President M A Gangadhar, Vice-President B S Sadashiva Rai, Kodava Academy former Member M A Vasanth and other were present.

Ranjan said that a proposal has been submitted to the government to sanction a government medical college for Kodagu district.

Speaking after laying foundation for the new hostel building for Government First Grade Women’s College in Kushalnagar on Saturday, he said the people in Kodagu district are facing difficulties as they were forced to go to Mangalore or Mysore for advanced treatments.

The matter has been brought to the notice of the government. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Medical Education Minister A Ramadas have been urged to announce a full-fledged medical college in Kushalnagar in the annual budget, he added. Principal Prof H C Lohithashwa delivered keynote address.
